Phase I of River Park Nears Completion
Boaters and others are anxiously awaiting the opening of the first phase of the Boise River Recreation Park. City officials say the park should be complete when final construction has been wrapped up by McAlvain Construction in early April. An official opening celebration is tentatively scheduled for early June.
New Greenbelt pathways and riparian plantings have yet to be completed, which will protect the shoreline habitat area on the Boise side of the river. Basic safety and warning signs will be installed prior to opening. Experts with Colorado-based Obermeyer Hydro, Inc. are training city staff on the operation of the Wave Shaper technology at fluctuating water levels and wave configurations.
To date, construction crews have finished with the in-river work, and are completing shoreline improvements such as a viewing plaza and benches, and rebuilding the Boise River Greenbelt.
